How many hairstylists do you need in a beauty salon? We calculate by area!
If you decided to start your own beauty salon, you are probably bothered with lots of things: the interior, equipment, products, clients and of course hair stylists. How many of them should you hire and how many of them are going to be enough? Let’s calculate it in this article together!
First of all, we will consider the overall area of your salon. Is it big or small? Practice shows that the average space size of a standard salon is 1500 square feet (140 square meters).
In general, one stylist needs approximately 175 sq ft. Thus, we can assume that if you have a space of 1500 sqft your salon can have up to 8 stylists.
It’s up to you to decide how many of these 8 are going to be hairstylists in case if you decided to open salons providing different services, not just hair procedures. Decide on how spacious you want your salon to be. Mind that there should be enough space for each stylist to comfortably work with the client. If your salon is a multi-service one, think on how to advantageously divide salon into sections, each of which will be dedicated to a particular group of stylists (for example make up artists, hairstylists, cosmetologists, etc.) If you feel that you can’t do it on your own, we suggest you use the services of the interior designer, who is a professional and knows for sure how to arrange everything in the best way.
